All around the world

22 Feb

Tossing and turning in bed, I couldn’t work out why I could not sleep. I’m dog-tired, yet wide awake. One little boy needed a toilet trip, another a drink. Fully awake, now, heart beating fast.

Usually, I lie in bed until I fall asleep, but tonight, I’ve got out of bed, made myself a cup of tea, roamed (quietly) around. And then I realised. If I were at home, I would just be waking up to Australia’s day of mourning.

There’s lots I could say, but sometimes silence is the best, the most respectful thing. I hope, if not today, then on another, this national day brings comfort to the people who need it the most. I will be thinking of them.
