Had a good sleep which I think makes all the difference, and today am determined to do something which isn’t faffing about on facebook (and definitely isn’t shopping which does sort of limit my options). Maybe go and sit in the library at the Cultural Foundation. They’ve got three copies of Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own and other essays there. Also, the coffee shop serves fairly average coffee but is rather atmospheric.
In other news, flickr is bl*cked again. Technically, it’s always been bl*cked, but there was a little f*ref*x add-*n which worked around the bl*ck somehow or other. Of course it was only a matter of time until the phone company worked out how to make the add-*n not work. But still, it was a contributing factor to my sadness, I’m sure.
oh, a library cafe! That sounds wonderful, average coffee aside. In fact, average coffee is BETTER, because the less noncy your library cafe is, the better.
I wish our library had a cafe.
And if it did, I wish I had time to be in it.
Every now and then I like to take a book, something I’ve always meant to read but haven’t been able to concentrate on, and sit in a library for a set amount of time. It starts out really really hard. Exam-sitting hard. It’s got a touch of the meditation retreat (sitting still for what seems like hours) and then slowly I start to focus, and after a little while I stop people watching, and then before I know it I have to go and I don’t want to because this book is so good.
Even if the book doesn’t turn out to be such a great read, you can be really up yourself about what you did all day.
How many times can one read A Room of One’s Own and does it make a difference if one changes editions?
Perhaps it’s time to give up vegetarianism!
Are there *nternet r*strictions in [3rdCat’sNewLand]?
Even Ch!na now allows my bl*g – which my d*d is quite thankful for. I like to think.
Instead of trying to write an exciting book – have you thought about a blogathon of some kind?
