You’ve just reminded me, I used to make toasted sugarbread when things were desperate. Toast bread on one side, and on fluffy untoasted side spread butter then sugar. Then toast sugary side til it goes golden. God it was good.
Crumpet, toasted very crisp on both sides, with far too much butter.
