Happy melancholy

13 Dec

I was wondering about this space inside and the prickling behind my eyes.

And then I realised.

It’s the last day that Littlest Boy and I will be home together alone. After today, I’m no longer a preschool Mum.

Please excuse me for a while. I’ve got a child to hug.

    Oof.
    I feel it.
    I’ll leave you two alone.

And i thought you had hay fever! There’s always the Telfast non-drowsy formula.

You’ll be home alone together other times, like when he’s sick or it’s holidays and the older one’s somewhere else (if that’s any consolation).

Gosh, imagine the day he’s the last one at home! No, actually, don’t. 🙂

    Ack.

I know these feelings well. Poignant and tender days indeed.

Doesn’t matter how tight you hug them, they keep growing up, the little buggers. If they didn’t grow more lovely every day you would want to put bricks on their heads.

Mmm, best to start getting ready for day one, term one now if you want to get out of the playground in one piece. Have a happy holiday, TC.
