Kim Beazley wrote a better concession speech than Rudd did a victory one

First missed opportunity: Kevin Rudd not acknowledging traditional owners of the land the very moment that he spoke. I know, it would have been only a gesture, but it could have been a defining one.

As an orator, he’s no Keating. He speaks from the head rather than the heart.

And his head was probably thinking very hard about all those Queensland voters terrified of land rights issues.

That’s not to say that I don’t agree with you, though.

Another reason why Kevin annoys me. Kim had his faults – but he is more thoughtful and intelligent and less nerdy.

It will be interesting to see what Kevin does about Aboriginal Reconciliation – he seemed to be wavering a bit pre-election.
