It’s more of an caution than anything, but similar: “Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.”

Hey! I’ve never known what the end of that phrase was. Even though I say the first bit all the time!

I use that phrase all the time – learned in a former life around the boardroom table discussing organisational change and political masters.

The chairman of the Board used it frequently and never really seemed to reflect what it said about the situation we were all in that there were so many pigs running around and we devoted so much time and energy in trying to make them more attractive rather than, say selling a few and eating some bacon or sponsoring a beautiful baby competition.

What colour lipstick were you using? Or did you have to spend hours discussing the lipstick shades as well?
